Portland Adult Degree Program will Distribute iPad 2 to Incoming Students

Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) November 10, 2011

George Fox University’s adult degree-completion program in technology management – covering the integration of technology in an organization – will begin distributing Apple’s new iPad 2 beginning in the fall of 2012. The device will be included with tuition.

This marks the third George Fox program – and second of its adult degree programs – to distribute an iPad to incoming students. The Oregon-based cohorts in the school’s Master of Arts in Teaching degree began distributing the device this fall, and George Fox’s Management and Organizational Leadership (hybrid format) adult degree program will start dispensing it with January’s incoming class.

The next Bachelor of Science in Technology Management cohort begins in August of 2012 at the university’s Portland Center near Tigard, located at 12753 S.W. 68th Ave., in Portland. The 36-semester-hour program can be completed in as few as 16 months. Application information is available at adultdegree.georgefox.edu.

The technology management major, one of the university’s six adult degree programs, teaches students to plan, design and evaluate process improvement initiatives using technology services and information systems across a wide spectrum of global environments including corporations, nonprofit and educational institutions.

Students also develop critical insight into the social, organizational, cultural and leadership factors that influence an organization’s ability to leverage information systems while analyzing and solving problems that impact business processes, operations and achieving organizational strategy.

“With the integration of the iPad 2 into our curriculum, students will be able to examine virtual business process automation, evaluate cloud services, interact with the instructor’s materials and effortlessly communicate with the other technology professionals,” said Greg Allen, faculty lead for the technology management major. “The instructors will get feedback immediately as they incorporate the IOS 5 platform, tools, and apps into the curriculum.

“We are constantly looking for new ways to deliver unique learning experiences into the program. The iPad2 allows us to be more creative in transforming the learning experience and untethering our students from the traditional classroom dynamics. The more innovative we are in integrating the iPad2 into the curriculum, the richer the experience for our technology management professionals.”

The iPad 2 allows students to download iBooks, PDF notes or other reader applications. They are ideal for working with course syllabi and other handouts, video conferencing, and for sharing documents and course notes. It also opens up a vast amount of educational interactive online tools and curriculum.

For details related to the program’s cost, financial aid availability, scheduling, and how many credits are required for admission and for graduation, visit the university’s adult degree programs website at adultdegree.georgefox.edu.

The university offers six adult bachelor’s degrees – in management and organizational leadership, technology management, project management, social and behavioral studies, health administration and elementary education.

George Fox University is ranked by Forbes and Kiplinger’s among the top Christian colleges in the country. George Fox is a Christian university classified by U.S. News & World Report as a first tier regional university and a “Best Value” school. More than 3,500 students attend classes on the university’s campus in Newberg, Ore., and at teaching centers in Portland, Salem, and Redmond, Ore., and Boise, Idaho. George Fox offers bachelor’s degrees in more than 40 majors, degree-completion programs for working adults, five seminary degrees, and 11 master’s and doctoral degrees.
